OCHS Students must be accepted for a degree course at Oxford University.

Students can be members of any faculty and registered for any degree, undergraduate or graduate, providing their course involves the study of Hindu cultures, broadly defined to include Indian and diaspora culture, interactions with other religions, history, art, sociology and other aspect of this many-facetted tradition.

Benefits of being an OCHS student

Being a student of the OCHS means gaining a second academic home in Oxford, with access to the Centre’s specialist library, study facilities, programme of lectures and seminars, visiting lecturers, and its community of Hindu Studies scholars who provide a wealth of shared knowledge, and a collegial research culture in which to work. OCHS students also have access to specialist courses including the International Workshop on Manuscriptology and Sanskritic Text Editing, at Jadavpur University, Kolkata.

Students reading for a D.Phil (Oxford’s equivalent to a Ph.D) in any subject relating to the study of Hindu cultures are welcome to apply to become members of the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies.
