Initially set up as adhoc opportunities for creative practitioners to become artists-in-residence, the OCHS Associate Artists scheme now supports residency, curatorial, and facilitatory activities across the arts with the aim of bringing contemporary practitioners into dialogue with the Centre’s staff and students. These dialogues help advance the role of practice-based knowledge in the study of Hinduism, but they also promote productive links to Oxford-based scholars working in the allied fields of Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, and Anthropology. Membership of the scheme has no fixed tenure so that, as projects and conferences are organised, artists can take advantage of the expertise, resources and opportunities generated by the OCHS research community.
